There is something that needs to be understood before you adventure on to become an anguished soul. I touched on it in my summary behind the name Anguishedsoul.com which you can find here. But I want to take the opportunity to expand on it more thoroughly.
To not make you read through a bunch of filler information I will cut straight to the point. What is the root of anguish? Love. Plain and simple. If someone asked me why I have anguish I would respond: “Because I have love.” But it begs the question: Why do I have love? To answer such a question we need to visit the foundation to my entire life itself: the Bible. We find in 1 John 4:19: “We love, because He first loved us.” Therefore, if we trace the line of anguish, we find that: because Christ loved us = we love. Then because we love = we have anguish.
Your ability (and capacity) to love is in relation to how much you know about the love that Christ had for you. So let’s take a few moments fleshing that out. Human beings, since the beginning of time, due to sin, were out of relation to God with no way to truly dwell with Him. God created man to walk with Him in perfect harmony but man, with the breath God gave him, when commanded to do one thing, said: “No.” This then separated God and man. The only way to satisfy such an offence was with a perfect sacrifice. Man would never be able to produce this (Romans 3:23). So God, not only for His love for man but to satisfy his judgment and hatred of sin, sends His only son (John 3:16) to become sin for man (2 Cor 5:21) that God may be able to finally execute His judgement for sin through a sacrifice, therefore restoring His relationship with mankind. It is through the resurrection of Christ that we (Romans 6:4) are able to walk again in true Life.
What you need to understand is the amount (depth and intensity) of Love that it takes to do this. I will tell you how much: it is limitless. Unsearchable. Unending. Infinite. Words, thoughts, or knowledge (Eph 3:19) can’t even begin to describe the love that God has toward us. It is this love that Paul says: “For the love of Christ constraineth us” We simply can’t help but love when we ponder or think about what was done on that cross. For God to execute His horrific wrath on His own Son, not to mention His painful and excruciating death on the cross, all the while we shake our fists in His face, scream out “Crucify him!” and live in complete defiance to the way He would have us to live, all because He loves us, is a thought that should leave you on your knees speechless.
This is the root of anguish. When pondering such love, rather, when receiving such love I can’t help but look out into the body of Christ today and see millions of Christians to whom this love means absolutely nothing. They continue to shake their fists, continue to live in sin, and though not verbally, they continue to yell “Crucify him!” It is this that brings me anguish. Not out of anger, not out of hate, not even out of sadness, but out of Love. Christ loves them all that He died for them all. He wants them to come to Him. (2 Peter 3:9) So I shout: “May the Lamb that was slain receive the reward of His suffering!”
